The Reading Committee
Chaired by the Vice President of the Board, Jennifer Marshall, the Reading Committee is charged with the formidable task of selecting shows for the next season and submitting their recommendations to the board.
For the 2011 - 2012 season, the Reading Committee will be selecting a show for the adult company to be performed in November and a youth company show to be performed in May. Possibly two SOCAN shows will also be mounted next season, one in late March or early April and one in the summer at the Armoury.
Shows are chosen after careful consideration of cast size, story line, musical score, audience appeal, etc.
The board continues to research options for performance locations while the John Elliott Theatre is under construction.
Members interested in serving on the Reading Committee, can contact Jennifer Marshall at smarshie@gmail.com within the next two weeks (by March 30th).

Cindy Lou Who's "Do"
Madeline King as "Cindy Lou Who" in Georgetown Globe's Seussical |
As chief investigative reporter for the "Behind the Stage Door" newsletter and "The Green Room" blog, we knew our inquiring readers would want to know - how does Madeline King transform her hair into Cindy Lou's locks?
"Well, the first time we did it, I went to a hair dresser. She rolled up her sleeves and started braiding. It took a while but it was really fun," recalled Madeline as she mingled with well-wishers backstage at the Tuesday night rehearsal. "Now my Mom does it for me. She is very good at it."
There were some indications that there are a few hair-do construction trade secrets behind the famous braids, but some things will just have to left up to the magic of theatre.
Seussical opens on Friday, March 11 at 7:00 pm and runs until March 20 at the John Elliott Theatre in Georgetown.
